Temple Grandin
Mary Temple Grandin was born August 29, 1947 she is an American professor of animal science at Colorado state university a best selling author. She focused on animal behavior, she also invented the hug box a thing to calm down kids with Autism Spectrum. She was born in Boston, Massachusetts. Temple was diagnosed with autism when she was 2 years old, she began to speak at the age of 4. She said that he high school years were the worst because people made fun of her because she repeated things. They used to call her "tape recorder". After she graduated on 1966 from Hampshire Country school a boarding school for gifted children in Rindge New Hampshire Grandin went to earn her bachelor's degree in Psychology in 1970, a master's degree in animal science from Arizona state university in 1975 and a doctoral degree in animal science from the University of Illinois in 1989.
She felt threatened by everything in her surroundings She studied the behavior of cattle on how they react to the ranchers the movements objects and light. Temple then made adapted curved corrals to reduce stress, panic and injury in animals being led to be killed. She wrote an essay called "Animals are not things" she wanted people to treat animals the same way as we treat humans. She's a visual thinker. Temple compares her memory to full movies in her head that may be replayed letting her to notice small details. She also is able to view her memories using slightly different contexts by changing the positions of the lighting and shadows.
Temple isn't married she doesn't have kids either. What she likes is horse riding, science fiction, movies, and biochemistry. She has to wear comfortable clothes and she regularly takes anti depressants. She doesn't use the squeeze box anymore she likes hugging people. In 2010 she was in the "Heroes" category. In 2011 she got a Double Hex Medal. She has gotten honorary degrees from many universities like Carnegie Mellon University in the United States, McGill University in Canada, and the Swedish University of Agricultural Sciences.
